PRESENTATION; FEEDBACK

So the presentations were done this afternoon; there was a lot of great ideas, not only for distributed systems, but the other three systems (flexible, virtual and mobile) as well. There were a lot of really interesting presentations formats as well; the 3D poster and the light up laser cut model were definitely a success!

A few points for further research that were mentioned by Cameron and Davor have been investigated below;

Indigenous Hive?
The diagram below (of population density as a hive) was discussed in regards to the indigenous 'tribe' locations map; I've altered one I've found below, and it's interesting how these two maps display some similarities. I've also noted some particularly dense areas (dense as in, a larger number of tribes in one area) across Australia, which could act as other locations for the Parliamentary Nodes we discussed...

Previously discussed population density hive.
Indigenous tribe boundaries; hive like structure?

Node locations of particularly dense tribes?

FLAG, HILL & WALL - WORLDWIDE?
Previously we have discussed the essence of parliament in relation to 'the flag, the hill and the wall' as a way to show presence and identity... Davor mentioned how this is not only present within the Parliament House in Canberra, but in other main Parliament buildings across the world... I had never really thought of it in this context, so below are a few images of other parliamentary structures of significance that use this notion of 'flag, hill and wall', and how they differ from the Australian Parliament House.

Parliament House; Australia.
Elements; Flag, Hill & Wall.

White House; America.
Elements; Flag, Wall & a bit of a Hill (more of a lawn)?

Buckingham Palace; United Kingdom.
Elements; Flag, Wall & more of a lawn.

Indian Parliament House; Delhi, India.
Elements; Flag, Wall & slight Hill?

Parliament House; Germany
Elements; a lot of Flags, Wall & Hill/lawn.
Just on a side note; the addition to the top of the German Parliament House is really interesting;

Of course there are many more government buildings that show these elements, but it's interesting how they all seem to have these certain elements and icons in common.
