As seen in my last post, I had focused more so on public buildings for integration and spacial information... I found myself looking more into pavilion design (as I think I see this is where my design is heading - an assortment of pavilions). Below are a few inspirational designs...
Gazebo
for TV Show / za bor Architects
Inspirational Aspects: Although it's quite small, this is quite an interesting use of space and shade cover.
Forest
Pavilion / nArchitects
Inspirational Aspects: Fantastic use of shape and light.
Riverside
Park Pavilion / Touloukian Touloukian Inc.
http://www.archdaily.com/151156/riverside-park-pavilion-touloukian-touloukian-inc/
Inspirational Aspects: A more traditional pavilion design... I like the integration of open pavilion space with closed pavilion space.
[AC-CA]
Architectural Competition – [LONDON] Olympic Games Information Pavilion Winning
Entries
Inspirational Aspects: The three images below show a few different entries into the competition... I like the integration of covered and open public space, and how some of the designs almost frame the building behind.
The
Canopy: Student Pavilion Erasmus University / NEXT Architects + MASS Studies
http://www.archdaily.com/152699/the-canopy-student-pavilion-erasmus-university-next-architects-mass-studies/#more-152699
Inspirational Aspects: A larger canopy / pavilion design, but a great "open" exhibition like space. Lovely section too.
Origami
/ BĂ©langer Beauchemin Morency, Architectes & Urbaniste
http://www.archdaily.com/130563/origami-belanger-beauchemin-morency-architectes-urbaniste/#more-130563
Inspirational Aspects: Somewhat larger than the other designs. I love the pavilions that surround and rise out of the ground... and the integration with the surrounding space.
INFORSTRUCTURE
/ MANIFESTO
http://www.archdaily.com/123411/inforstructure-manifesto/#more-123411
Inspirational Aspects: This design plays around with visibility of the structure quite a lot, which I find interesting. Also an interesting kind of 'folding' shape design.
Olympic
Sculpture Park / Weiss Manfredi
Inspirational Aspects: This design shows an interesting stepping down effect on public space... I like the integration of spaces into these different 'steps'.
Stratford
Station Olympic Kiosk Competition proposal / LGT Office
Inspirational Aspects: The different spaces here link in interesting ways. I like the thought the designers have put into how each different type of space should be designed / used.
Beijing
Core Area Plan / Brininstool, Kerwin, + Lynch
http://www.archdaily.com/157673/beijing-core-area-plan-brininstool-kerwin-lynch/#more-157673
Inspirational Aspects: More of a public space design, I like the strong allocation of paths, but with the ability to stray still available. Interesting design of 'off the path' spaces also.
Auditorium
and Cultural Facilities Competition winner / SOMOS Arquitectos
Inspirational Aspects: I am a fan of the different emerging areas, with viewpoints up to various views. I like the way this design almost grows out of the ground.
Artist’s
Colony Market / Atelier Architects
http://www.archdaily.com/97149/artists-colony-market-atelier-architects/#more-97149
Inspirational Aspects: More of a geometric design inspiration, this structure really adds something between the existing structures. I like the design in this roof like structure. The floor plate design is also quite inspiring, in a hive like way.
Jade
Bamboo Culture Plaza / Urbanus
http://www.archdaily.com/53963/jade-bamboo-culture-plaza-urbanus/#more-53963
Inspirational Aspects: This public plaza design is quite interesting with the different geometric areas. The pavilion that runs down the side is also quite aesthetically pleasing, and almost hidden.
Public
Spaces for Events Forum de Negocios / Francisco J. dl Corral & Federico Wulff
http://plusmood.com/2009/09/public-space-for-events-forum-de-negocios-francisco-j-del-corral-federico-wulff/
Inspirational Aspects: This 'public space for events forum' design uses the slope of the site to create different vantage points and areas for gathering. The spaces integrated into these hills are almost invisible, but create a sense of mystery.
