EXEMPLARS

So I've been prowling archdaily over the last few days, and have found quite a few inspirational designs. Below are a wide, wide selection... I have mainly focused on public works within the post (such as museums, visitor centres, galleries, exhibition spaces).

Due to the nature of the site, some of these display designs that are somewhat hidden in the natural environment / use the gradient of the land to integrate the architecture. I think this is what I aim to achieve for the site at Federation Mall.

Interpretation and Visitors Center / VAUMM Architects

Inspirational Aspect: The integration into the landscape / how the architecture joins at ground level.

Bifurcating Ecologies / Kenneth To – Wendy W Fok

Inspirational Aspect: Once again, the integration into the landscape; the public access over and through the architecture.

Guzhen Center / Volkan Alkanoglu

Inspirational Aspect: Obviously my design would not be this large, or prominent, but the integration of lighting and way finding is a really interesting statement. This ties back to one of the images of Federation Mall displaying the light show.

Beton Hala Waterfront Center proposal / Various Designers

Inspirational Aspects: A few different design competition entries, all somehow displaying very similar proposals. Once again, the integration of the landscape and public space; blurring the boundaries between public and private, etc.

Busan Metropolitan Opera House Competition Proposal / INDEX Architecture

Inspirational Aspects: The joins at ground level, and the shape of the structure are quite inspiring. The circulation spaces this creates are remarkable.

Gulating Museum Proposal / LETH & GORI

Inspirational Aspects: Amazing model! I predominantly looked at this one due to the spaces it provides, and the integration across various levels in the landscape.

Ujpalota Main Square / HMS-Plan

Inspirational Aspects: The public space integration, and use of different elements to create varying levels; a really interesting approach to public square designs.
